The GT / JB,COM team made it's way down to Lancaster in So-Cal. They knew it would be windy but what they got was mud conditions on Saturday. NBL 9 Expert Champion Bubba Gonzales is on a mission to prove he is the best in the Nation. Bubba rode really smart in the mud and came away with Wins in both Class and Crusier, In the Crusier race Bubba got a flat tire and still held on for the win. On Sunday Bubba looked a little flat himself. ( I am sure it had nothing to do with racing in the mud with a fllat tire) With a closer then normal Win in Crusier , Bubba still pulled off a 2nd in Class, but now has positioned himself that if he Wins the ABA Grands next month he will be the ABA Champion. Trenton Guthrie also proved to be a mudder with a big 2nd place in 7 Expert.. Trenton is really putting things together after a 3rd at the NBL Grands.Add another 2nd on Sunday and Trenton is becoming a major player in the class. Trevor Guthrie had some problems in the mud in 6 Expert, but came back on Sunday making the Main. Ricky Castro couldnt have picked a worse day to come down and race one day. Ricky who is always in the hunt and races 100% got caught down in the soft dirt before the Main in 8 Expert. Next Race NBL State Championships this weekend in Prunedale Calif. Thanks to our great sponsor's, GT Bicycles, Fly Racing, DeRosa Racing, Joselyn's Bike Shop, Bombshell, Little Dude Components, A & C Paving, T.H.E. and Big Joe Caputo

This was a outstanding weekend for the whole GT team ! Starting off with Randy Stumpfhauser winning the Grands and the title in AA Pro. Congrats to Stumpy ! Joey B was right there in the main both days and looking very strong. Knowing his teammate was up for a title Joey rode smart during the Mains to make sure Stumpy had plenty of room. The National team was on fire. Starting with Bubba Gonzales who just owned 9 Expert. Knowing that he couldnt lose one race all weekend to win the National title Bubba was determined to get the job done. With all 1st places Bubba is now the NBL National Champion ! Defending National Champion Ricky Castro wanted to show that he still is the fastest 7 Expert in the Country and thats just what he did never losing a round. Another 1st place for Ricky. His teammate Trenton Guthrie who has less then 6 months as a Expert took home the 3rd. G.M. Lil Ant DeRosa also was on a mission to prove that there isnt a faster 13 year old Expert . Ant took home the 1st place trophy and looked very strong. Derek ( Horse ) McCuiston just stomped the 9 Novice class winning huge every round. Derek is looking to move into the Expert class with Bubba. Tibi Szilzgyi also came up big for the team with a 4th place on his birthday in the tough Crusier class. Brianna Wiley made her main in Crusier. After almost being knocked down right out of the gate and being 100ft behind she didnt give up and made up some postions to improve her year end standing. Nate Smith, Jason Wiley, Brandon Tansey, MoJo Caputo and Trevor Guthrie all were there but dispite some good laps didnt make it to Mains. This wraps up the 2008 NBL National season. It was a great season and a very strong showing that GT is again out front. On the ABA side we had three riders in Reno this weekend. I do know 6 year old Dezi Green made his main both days. Still waiting on results from Richard Green and A pro Jimmy Monroe. Our sponsor's have been incredible with support and the team would not have had the same success with out them. THANK YOU, GT Bicycles, Joselyn's Bike shop, Fly Racing, Bombshell parts, DeRosa Racing, Big Ox, LDC , A&C Paving, T.H.E.and Joe Caputo.

More good racing by the National and Grassroots team. The National team Won both days in Taft with perfect scores to really help it's National ranking. The week before the Joselyn's Team Won both days at the Calif State race in Prunedale. With the Grassroots team really taking off and all of them on Joselyn's State team there were alot of GT colors out front at these events. Here are the results. From Taft NBL Regional, What can I say about Bubba. He needed 2 perfect scores to control his own destiny for the NBL Grands and Bubba nailed it with ease. All those 9 Experts sitting at the top wishing Bubba wasnt going to Louisville are due for a huge letdown when the final results are posted leading up to the Grands. After this week in Tucson Bubba will be training hard for his 1st National title. Nate Smith doing doulbe duty again on both bikes got two big Wins on Crusier along with a 2nd in Class. Nate is having a solid season. Courtney Gonzales" the human sewing machine" has really improved since she decided to start riding her track at home with brother Bubba. 2 perfects for her. Defending National Champ Ricky Castro put up another solid weekend with 2 Wins and a 2nd in Crusier. Brandon Tansey was also doing double duty with a 1st and 2nd in Class and two 3rd's in Class. Our newest National rider Derek ( Big Horse ) McCuiston needed one more Win as he gets ready to take the National title at Louisville in 9 Novice. Trenton Guthrie mixed it up all weekend with the National Champ R.C. and is looking really good for just turning Expert. Chalk up two 2nd's. Trevor Guthrie just cant get a break. While the little guy classes are booming there just isnt many Experts. At 6 years old it seems he has to always race up in class and when the 7 year olds are yout older brother and a National Champ the going can get ruff. But he digs all the way around and got a couple of 3rds. We had 4 Grassroots riders in Taft, Colby Locicero had a good weekend with 1st and a 2nd Cameron Dorty making his 1st race for us put together a 1st and a 4th His Little brother Colby had to 4ths. Parker Susmann must have blown a spark plug because he has already won the big races but had a 5th this weekend More good racing by the National and Grassroots team. Nate Smith put together another strong run with two Wins in Crusier Jason Wiley made the long trip and had a perfect going before he hurt his knee and couldnt race the Main. Get well Jason ! Brandon had two Wins in Crusier Jessica Castro also had two Wins on Crusier Courtney had two Wins and her teammate Melissa Castro fighting all the way with two Seconds. These girls are good friends but you wouldnt know it when they are on the track. Birthday boy Andrew Morales took home two Wins. Not often that you have a birthday and move up in class and still win. Very nice effort. Parker was riding normal with two Wins in class. My new rider and Middle linebacker Nathan ( The Bulldozier ) Martorella just moved up to Novice and still made it look easy with two Wins. His brother Kyle was there on Saturday and had a 2nd. Dezi Green doing his thing winning both days on the track and firing out one liners at the pits. Anthony Lee getting it together with a 3rd and a 2nd Derek McCuiston racing a Crusier for the very first time and still had a 1st and a 2nd Cameron Dorty had two 2nds Ricky Castro was having some great races again and pulled out 2 Wins in Class and a Win in Crusier Trenton Guthrie was right therte again with two 2nds. Alexandra Morales had two 2nds after making the move to the girls class from Rookie.

Finally things are getting back to normal. All I can say about going to China and staying a week at the 3rd most smog city is good luck and bring a mask and snacks..... The track was awsome and very technical. It made for some great racing. The first day of racing was 14 and under and I was happy to be assigned the 11 and under classes to Coach. The USA team was on fire winning 6 boys, 7 boys, 8 boys and then it was the big showdown between USA riders in 3 time World Champ T-Rex Fuller and GT / JB own Bubba Gonzales. T-Rex drew inside gate with Bubba hung out in 7. Gate drops and they both quickly pull away . Going into the 1st turn T-rex has the advantage being on the inside. Bubba plays it smart and follows T-Rex around the track until the last corner where Bubba rails and gets alot of speed for the last straight. Bubba starts to pass with just two rollers to go and with alot of speed and then suddenly over clears the jump and all his body weight goes over the bars and he indoe's right there 30 ft from the finish line. A heartbreaker for sure. I watched Bubba train really hard for this event and I am sure he is the fastest 9 year old in the World even though his plate says W8. Knowing Bubba he will just smile and keep working hard without complaining and he WILL win a title this year. If anyone didnt get the chance to see a picture of his crash check out WWW. BMXMANIA.COM ,you may have to scroll back some. With T-Rex's win and USA winning 11 and 12 class the USA team was in command. Day 2 was 15 and over Class and team USA didnt really have our top kids until 17 and over where USA won again. Day 3 was Elites. Joey B you could tell just wasnt on point and still wasnt 100 % from the concussion and shoulder injury suffered in Australia. Joey made it through moto's but couldnt put a good gate or lap in during the 1/8ths making it a short day....Because of serveral factors including being hurt for the China Supercross and the Denmark Supercross along with a rainout in Salt Lake Supercross. A unclip out of the gate in 1/4 in Spain Supercross and the crash after being hit from behind while in the air in Australia made it where Joey was not invited to San Diego for the 8 man race off for the Olympic's. Very disapointing for sure after being the 4th most point getter for the USA in 07 and 06 and being the number 1 ranked Jr. in the World last year......Goodluck to GT rider Mikey Day next week at the race off and congrats to GT's Jill Kitner for earning the lone USA spot in Womens Elite Class.

Day 4 was for Crusiers and Team USA had serveral wins including GT's Eric " Big Daddy " Rupe who crushed the field for his 4th straight win and leading Team USA to it's 4th straight Country title after 10+ years without a win. Back in the States we had some action going on. Our G.M. Lil Ant DeRosa was in York Pa doing a little ABA racing. As luck would have it it rained all day on Saturday and made the track horrible. Ant hung in there and got a 2nd in Crusier and a 4th in class. Sunday was a different story with a good dry track. Ant destroyed the 13 year old class in both Class and Crusier. The NBL had a Regional race in Reedly Calif. and the team had many riders along with the grassroots team. They won the team title both days and had some great results. In the 7 and under Expert class it was all GT/JB team with Ricky Castro, Trenton and Trevor Guthrie on the podium both days. Ricky winning Saturday and Trenton winning Sunday. Jason Wiley with a couple on 2nds in the always hard 17-24 Expert class. Brand new Team rider Derek McCuiston taking the call up from the minor's in stride with 2 big wins in 9 Intermedite. Dezi Green with a couple of 2nds in 6 Inter. Nate Smith a podium in Expert along with two 2nds in Crusier. Brianna Wiley had two wins and a total of 4 podiums. Tibi Szilagyi had 2 podiums in Crusier. Ricky Castro beat the big boys on Saturday in 10 and under Crusier and still had a podium on Sunday. Brandon Tansey made his main both days racing the men in 13 to 24 Crusier.....The GT / Joselyn's Grassroots team also did very well with Colby Locicero winning both days in 6 Rookie along with Parker Susmann in 8 Rookie. Becca Walker with a win and 3 podiums and Eric Walker making a couple of mains. The GT / Joey Bradford.com ABA National team made its way to Central Valley California in Tulare. The weather was perfect and the competition was tough for this 200+ moto event. This wasnt an AA Pro race which was a good thing because while the track was different and interesting the dirt was terrible causing the corners to breakaway becoming either real loose when dry or very slick when wet. The 7 person team fought thru the track conditions and still had 5 wins and 10 podiums. The race stars for this event were the Guthrie Boys winning both days in dramatic fashion. Trevor had one of the biggest rider counts at 27 in the 6 Intermediate class and proved he is a very good racer working his way thru traffic all weekend to go undefeated. Then he is able to come back to the compound and give you a second by second recap of his race. Good stuff for sure. Trenton ( I let my riding do the talking ) can also work thru traffic but can put the power down to take care of 7 Intermediate class. Here is one for the older guys, Richard Green ( Greenzales) took care of the 36 over class with a win Saturday and 3rd Sunday. "Hey Richard dont go high in the corners " Brandon Tansey had 3 podiums and 1 crash going for the lead in one of the slick corners in 14 Intermediate and Open. Believe it or not he never let more then 2 girls beat him in Open. Bubba Gonzales is in the middle of training hard for the Worlds in China but still landed a second and then a 4th in the 9 Expert class. Bubba is getting alot of good experience racing the soon to be 10 Experts which will make him battle tested come the major events this season. Lil Ricky Castro made 2 mains and is learning to take advantage of every opportunity in 7 Expert. Ricky is a very smart rider and always gives 100 % Dezi Green provided the laughs and looked really good at times in the huge 6 year old class just missing out on the mains. Most of the team will be at the NBL Regional in Reedley Calif the end of the month while Joey and Bubba will be in China. Thanks once again to our great sponsor's : GT Bicycles, Fly Racing, Joselyn's Bike Shop, DeRosa Racing, Bombshell Parts, A&C Paving, Big Ox, T.H.E. Products, Joe Caputo and LDC.

The GT / J.B. COM and Joselyn's Grassroots team had home field advantage racing the Sea Otter Classic in their backyard. With most of the riders from the Monterey Bay area they wanted to showcase their talents to the rest of the cycling community . What a weekend it was with the team dominanting the California State Team Series with perfect scores of 600 each day. There was a study stream of Blue out front with 22 WINS and a incredible 42 PODIUMS ! As I always say when you Double, Double for the weekend you get Top billing and that is where 9 Expert, Crusier Bubba Gonzales finds himself once again. The hard training with Team China is starting to really payoff with four more wins as he gets ready for the Worlds next month in China. Just another outstanding job by Mr. Quiet Trenton Guthrie in 7 Intermediate. The kid race after race stomps the field. 2 more wins for Trenton. It seems like his younger brother Trevor always has to follow him but Trevor put together 2 big wins with teammate Dezi Green right behind him both days in 6 Intermediate. Ricky Castro was riding well all weekend with 2 Wins in 7 Expert and 8 under Crusier along with 2 more podiums. The GT girls were also great this weekend. Brianna Wiley had 2 wins in 16 girls along with 2 for Melissa Castro on her UB2 frame in 13 girls. Jessica Castro took time away from soccer to get 2 podiums. Courtney Destaillats had 2 podiums with a cast on her arm. Grassroots rider 12 year old Becca Walker had her bike dialed in and it showed with 3 wins and a 2nd. Our College Student Jason Wiley came back from a crash on Saturday with a Win on Sunday in 19-25 Expert Tibi Szilagyi had 1 win and a couple of 2nd's along with Nate Smith's Win and 3 other podiums to complete our older guy classes. Not to be out done Brandon Tansey was out Cruising around with a Win and a 2nd. The rest of the Grassroots riders were getting busy with a Win from 5 year old Colby Locicero and a 2nd. Colby justed turned 6. Happy Birthday ! My buddy Derek McCuiston took another crash on Saturday not wanting to backdown but came back for a 2nd on Sunday. Eric Waker is getting better and handed in 2 podiums. The newest member Parker Susmann also got himself a podium.

The GT / Joselyn's / JB , GT Grassroots and Associates team made the trip to Southern Calif for the NBL National in Whitter. This turned out to be a great weekend with the teams pulling out 11 big wins and 28 PODIUMS ! The team was outstanding with a 3rd and 2nd againest the heavy weights in the top National Team division. Here is the breakdown. Anytime you double double 1st place you get top billing and that is just where we start with in 7 year old Intermediate Trenton Guthrie. He dont talk alot and you really arent sure if he likes you but he just flat crushes the comp.Add 4 more wins to the books. His brother Trevor does all the talking and backs it up winning both days in 6 Inter dispite just having his birthday Saturday and adding 2 seconds to his brother in open class. Happy Birthday Trevor ! Little Ricky Castro gives you everything he has in the 7 Expert class and his hard work showed with a big Win on Sunday, a podium on Saturday along with making the mains both days in 10 under Crusier. Bubba Gonzales is use to winning but this weekend he was a little off but still put up solid numbers with 4 podiums in 9 Expert and Crusier. This wont sit well with Bubba and he will be ready for the next National. The older guys dont get alot of print but Tibi Szilagy deserves some love for being the top point getter for team on Saturday and bringing home a podium on Sunday. If I could just talk him into riding just one bike at Nationals he might have some gas left at the finish line....lol. Jason Wiley is a fulltime college student and doesnt get the chance to ride much but still has the skills to get 2 podiums for the team in the always hard 19-25 Expert Class. His sister Brianna also doesnt get a chance to ride much but still helps the team with 2 podiums in 16 Cruiser. The always quick witted ready for anything Dezi Green put up 2 podiums in the 6 Inter class. The teams part time racer part time team model, cheerleader, and new product tester Melissa ( Mo ) Castro has really improved with 2 podiums in 13 girls class. 14 year old Cool Breeze Brandon Tansey put together a podium and perhaps a phone number or two this weekend. Nate Smith didnt have the weekend that he is use too but still found himself in a couple of mains and only crashed 2 times. The 2 crashes are a good weekend for Nate. GT Grassroots rider 9 year old Derek McCuiston won his race on the first National as a Intermediate Saturday and served notice that he would rather crash then backdown when being pushed off the track. This kid is raw but big and strong and understands the game. Becca and Eric Walker are new to the Grassroots team and were still dealing with some "dialing the bike in " issues. We will work with them somemore at the local track and get things right for the next National. Team China Mary and Fenny also were racing with Mary winning both days in 17 over girls and Fenny getting a 4th on Sunday. For those of you who were not at the races Mary has some World Class first straight pull. She will be a major bicycle star in China. They will be going back home April 24th. Thanks once again to our sponsors; GT Bicycles, Joselyn's Bike Shop, Fly Racing, Bombshell Parts, DeRosa Racing, A&C Paving, Big Ox, Joe Caputo, T.H.E. and LDC Next race Sea Otter Classic April 17-20 at some place called Monterey.
